For 6 months (October 2010 – April 2011) I lived in India, with a grant from the Portuguese Fundação Oriente, to document and learn 2 of their most famous and traditional textile printing/decoration techniques – block printing Ajrakh and Bandhani Tie & Dye. Although my research was conducted around many places, I was mainly based in Bhuj, Kutch, in Gujarat State. My mentors were the bandhani master Abduljabbar Khatri and the master block-printer Aurangzeb Khatri.

After going back to Portugal, in partnership with the Orient Museum, in Lisbon, we curated and exhibition, a talk and a series of workshops, presented by the above-mentioned Indian masters.
